Special Scientist–Lecturer and researcher


Georgia Soursou, PhD, is a Special Scientist–Lecturer and researcher with expertise in developmental psychopathology, neuroscience, bioinformatics, and health data science. She currently teaches Cognitive Psychology and Statistical Analysis in Psychology at the American University of Beirut – Mediterraneo. She holds a PhD in Psychology as a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellow from the University of Cyprus, an M.Sc. in Bioinformatics from the University of Crete, and a B.Sc. in Computer Science and Biomedical Informatics from the University of Thessaly. She completed her postdoctoral training at the Precision Exposomics and Health Lab of the Cyprus University of Technology, where she managed large-scale cohort studies and conducted advanced biological and epidemiological data analyses to investigate environmental exposures and health effects. In parallel, she has substantial teaching experience across undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Previously, she served as collaborating educational staff for Experimental Psychology course at the Open University of Cyprus, and as a special teaching scientist for Health Informatics and Cognitive Psychology courses at the Cyprus University of Technology. She has over eight years of experience in interdisciplinary research, specializing in psychoneurometric modeling, genetic and environmental influences on child and adolescent mental health, and biological data analysis. She has contributed to national and EU-funded projects (e.g. Neo-PRISM-C, CHILDREN_FIRST, EUthyroid2, EXPOSOWORK) focusing on psychopathology, genetic and environmental influences, exposomics, and public health outcomes. Her expertise includes advanced statistical analysis and cohort study management. She has published in international peer-reviewed journals and is actively involved in academic teaching and scientific outreach, currently serving as Chair of the MSCA Cyprus Chapter.
